Lush: D’Fluff Shaving Soap

IMG_1149

The only thing I’ve ever bought from Lush was their hand cream that I mentioned in previous posts. So I decided I wanted to start testing out more of Lush’s products because they use all fresh ingredients. I discovered this shaving cream from a YouTube video a couple days ago and it seemed pretty interesting so I went out and purchased the 2.4oz tub just for testing it out.

This shaving cream was inspired by strawberry marshmallow fluff, which is exactly what it looks like. When you’ve had enough of the rough stuff, there’s D’Fluff! This fluffy, sweet shaving soap will have you dreaming of Strawberry Fluff sandwiches while you shave.IMG_1152

What’s in it:

It’s packed full of effective ingredients: fresh strawberries, egg whites and golden syrup, all whisked together with rosehip oil, coconut oil and maple sugar to create a light, marshmallowy texture that will leave your skin silky smooth. Plus, Fair Trade cocoa butter leaves skin moisturized and helps keep post-shave redness to a minimum.

How to use:

Wet your skin and apply a generous amount of shaving soap. For best results, let it sink into your skin for 3-5 minutes before you begin to shave. Shave the desired area, rinsing your razor frequently under hot water to eliminate excess soap and stubble. Finish off with a moisturizer for smooth, soothed skin.

Pros:

  • Gives you a close shave
  • Leaves skin feeling really smooth after the shower
  • Vegan
  • Not animal tested

Cons:

  • Hard to apply, breaks apart while rubbing it in
  • leaves skin sort of dry while still in the shower
  • Doesn’t smell like it sounds

I’ll be honest, I’ve never had such mixed emotions about a product before like I do with this one. I was all excited to smell like strawberry marshmallows but that isn’t what it smells like. It’s not a terrible smell but it doesn’t exactly smell like strawberries. Also when applying it onto the skin it declumps and kinda breaks apart while trying to rub it in which was frustrating because I kept having to scoop out more. I did however love how it left my legs feeling once I dried off and how it gives you a close shave.

For $10.95 I figured why not try it. Can I live without this product…absolutely, but I really wanted to give it a shot since I’ve never purchased anything else from them. If any of you have tried more products from Lush what do you recommend me trying next?

Until next time xoxo
